Flavia Gaspar

Co-President
Flavia is a fourth-year student reading for a B.A. in Chinese Studies at St Aidan’s College. She was previously the Treasurer of DUFS, as well as Market Report Officer and founder of the Summer Market Report. In second year, Flavia did her Spring Insight Programmes at J.P. Morgan and Rothschild & Co, and this summer, she completed a summer internship at J.P. Morgan in the Investment Banking Division. During her year abroad, she studied Mandarin in Taiwan and interned in Asset Management at Chartwell Capital in Hong Kong. Flavia also works as a Regional Representative at AmplifyME, and in her free time, she enjoys playing squash and polo.

Jack Moore

Co-President
Jack is a third-year Economics student at Josephine Butler College and the previous secretary of DUFS. Jack successfully secured week-long insights with Blackstone, Rothschild & co, Aviva/Aviva investors and Coutts before completing an Investment Banking summer internship at Bank of America. In college, Jack partakes in Badminton. Outside of college, Jack is the Faculty Representative for the Business school, Course representative for third-year Economics, Durham Student Ambassador and a mentor for a social mobility charity called Zero Gravity.

James Watson-Gandy

Vice President
James is a third-year General Engineering undergraduate at University College. He was previously Market Report Editor of DUFS, where he published over 100 reports and over 25 weekly Newsletters. This summer, he interned as a Summer Analyst in the TMT Investment Banking Division at Société Générale. Prior to this, he interned at Themis International Services, Trust Payments and he gained work experience at Somerset Capital Management. James is a keen rower and competes in the 1st VIII of the Durham University Boat Club, where he has won multiple BUCS medals. In 2019, James won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta and won a bronze medal at the World Rowing Junior Championship in Tokyo in the GB 8+.

Evelyn Knight

Events Officer
Evelyn is a second-year Theology student at Josephine Butler College. Before coming to university, she worked within a Think Tank to conduct policy research on the proposed sugar tax, as well as completing a summer internship with the IEA. During her gap year, Evelyn worked for an MP conducting policy research alongside leading economic scholars, focusing particularly on policy regarding tax and property regulations. Outside of university, Evelyn is interested in classical literature, debating and equestrian sports.

Harry Dobson

Events Officer
Harry is a first-year Physics undergraduate from Collingwood College. Over the Spring break, Harry interned with Fidelity International and is looking to secure a Summer Internship for next year. Harry plays Football for Collingwood College’s A Team; he is hoping to Captain the side next year and also progress into one of the Durham University Football teams.

Mark Stride

Social Officer
Mark is a third-year Economics student at Trevelyan College. Mark successfully completed a summer internship in the Investment and Treasury Services department at the Royal Bank of Canada. Within the university, he is also the Initiatives Officer in the DU Asian investment Society. Outside of university, Mark enjoys cooking, and travelling and is also a professionally trained high diving coach.

Charlie Illingworth

Investment Fund Director
Charlie is a third-year Economics student at John Snow College and was formerly the Sector Lead for Financials as part of the Investment Fund. In his first year, Charlie completed a spring week with Schroders before interning with Legal & General Investment Management over the summer. Outside of his studies, he enjoys volleyball, having had the opportunity to represent both the college and university, as well as football and comedy.

Ed Williamson

Investment Fund Director
Ed is a fourth-year Business and Management student from St Cuthbert’s Society. In his second year, he was an Analyst for the Investment Fund and completed a Spring Insight with Schroders. For Ed's third year he completed a placement year in M&A at a boutique investment bank with a focus on the Energy Transition and Climate Change sector. In his free time, Ed enjoys Rowing and Skiing, as well as playing the guitar.

Rory Cowper

Investment Fund Outreach
Rory is a third-year History student at Collingwood College on a four-year course and previously was an investment fund analyst in his second year. Over the summer, he completed an internship with the commercial law firm Caldwell and Robinson LLP and will be undertaking a placement year in accounting and business advisory with RSM. Outside of his work and studies, Rory is a keen 7s rugby player, and cryptocurrency enthusiast, and is a mentor for the social mobility charity Zero Gravity.

Esha Fatima

Marketing Officer
Esha is a second-year Accounting and Management student at Collingwood College. Before coming to university, she was the founder of her A-Level newspaper and worked with Ghazali as a summer finance intern. Prior to joining DUFS, she worked for PalTV as the Marketing Coordinator and was a spring intern at Bank Islami. In her free time, she enjoys the great outdoors, cafe-hopping and attending concerts.

Israt Rahman

Israt is a second-year Liberal Arts student (History, Business, Classics & Chinese) at Hatfield College. Israt completed insight programmes at Boston Consulting Group, Cheyne Capital, JP Morgan, Lane and Clark & Peacock before completing two summer internships, Finance in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Executive Search at Sainty, Hird and Partners. Within college, Israt is the Women in Business Society College Ambassador and Senior Low Income & State School Representative. Outside of college, Israt is the Girls are Investors Campus Ambassador, Business Studies 93% Club Representative, and in her spare time, she is a culinary blogger and an avid trumpet player.

Otto Rutter

Market Report Editor
Otto is a third-year politics student at John Snow College. He was a relative latecomer to finance, only developing an interest at the end of first year and joining the society shortly after. He then went on to work as a Market Report officer from December 2021. This summer he interned in the Asset Management division at HSBC, focusing on Alternative Investments. Otto is a politics department peer mentor and works as a tutor. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, particularly mountain biking (although he is now ‘retired’ from racing) and trail running around Durham.

Henry is a second-year student studying History at the College of St Hild and St Bede. In first year, he was a Market Report Analyst in the ESG sector, he also completed a Spring Insight week at BNP Paribas and successfully secured a Summer Internship for 2023. Outside of his studies, Henry is a reserve Infantry Officer with the 1st Battalion London Guards, having completed a Gap Year Commission before attending University. In his free time, Henry enjoys playing Rugby, Football, Cricket and has recently taken up rowing.

Taif is a second-year Accounting and Finance student at South College. Prior to attending Durham, Taif spent a year working as a Utility Consultant at an Energy Brokerage. In his first year, he completed Spring Programmes at Citi and J.P. Morgan and was a Debt Products Analyst for the DUFS Investment Fund. Taif is very passionate about social mobility, regularly working with the national charity upReach and SEO London. During his spare time at Durham, he is an avid reader, fitness enthusiast and enjoys learning languages.

Louise is a third-year student studying Economics at St Mary’s College. Louise completed a summer internship at BlackRock in the internal audit division. She volunteered to tutor GCSE students in Maths and spent her first-year summer working at a summer camp for primary school children. Louise was a member of the Durham University Cheerleading team and enjoys playing badminton and yoga.

In first year, Yana completed Spring Weeks at UBS, Deutsche Bank and Deloitte and successfully secured a summer internship at Liberty Global. Outside of her studies, she works with different startups, enjoys playing musical instruments and is on her way to climbing the seven summits.

Rahul is a second-year Physics student at Collingwood College. He successfully secured and completed a spring week at BNP Paribas in the Global Banking Division and has worked as an M&A analyst for Investing Volt. Rahul is the treasurer for Collingwood College Tennis Club and has volunteered as a tennis coach for younger children. He has represented Surrey County in both cricket and chess, and currently plays for the Durham University 2XI cricket team. In his spare time, Rahul also enjoys playing golf and running.

Sophie is a third-year student studying Economics at Trevelyan college. In her first year, Sophie secured spring weeks at Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan and completed a summer internship at PKF Littlejohn in the audit sector. In her second year, she completed a summer internship at Deutsche Bank and represented the university as one of the company’s campus brand ambassadors. She also enjoyed her role as Events Manager of Asian Investment Society. In her spare time, Sophie plays badminton for Team Durham and enjoys cooking and playing the piano.

Caspar is a fourth-year Mathematics and Physics MSci student at Van Mildert College, with interests in quantitative finance and trading. In addition to completing numerous courses in mathematical finance, Caspar is preparing for the CFA level 1 which he will be taking in November. This summer he interned at MasterCard as a software engineer where he developed his programming skills and knowledge of the transactional services field. Outside of his studies, Caspar enjoys producing music, creating trading algorithms and tutors A level maths and physics.

In second year, Felix interned at a hedge fund in London. Outside of his degree, Felix has founded the Durham chapter of MergerSight Group, and in his spare time is a keen tennis and hockey player.
